| The Wellington Group is a software development company with a software product that performs error checking on health care claims then submits claims to the insurance company electronically.
The software's complex rules engine checks to make sure claims have all related procedures listed on the claim that are required by the insurance company to approve the claim.
The software ran on hardware and software
deployed in the health care facility to collect data and
process claims. This method of deployment was difficult to
maintain because the database changes had to be made
physically at the health care site. Wellington Group's
desire was to move their application "in the cloud",
accessible by Internet to both the customer and Wellington
Group's development staff, and away from the health care
site.
While Wellington Group developers converted the
application to a web-based application, Advanced Network
Solutions (ANS) worked with Wellington Group to size server
hardware to meet both current application needs and allow
room for growth in the future. ANS's solution was two
managed servers: a web front-end server and a SQL back-end
server. ANS supplied the server hardware, OS and SQL
licenses and media, expert management / maintenance /
monitoring of server hardware and software, colocation space
in ANS’s highly redundant data center, data backup services
and bandwidth for a fixed monthly fee. |
